Bridges of Hope
Country of ministry: Liberia, West Africa
Bridges of Hope was incorporated as a South Dakota non-profit organization in 2005. The vision was to establish a school and orphanage in rural Liberia, Bensonville, Montserrado County. The work developed rapidly, with a school opening in the fall of 2005 that enrolled 120 students. Since then, the school, called Hope International Christian Academy, continues to grow and had an enrollment of 477 students from Nursery through 12th grade in 2023.
In 2018, Martin Digler and his wife, Stephanie, who are members of Parkview EFC, took over as Chairman of the Board and Education Committee Chair/Board Member of Bridges of Hope. Since then, they have worked to improve the academic standards of the school through professional development and discipleship of the teachers. They have also implemented a Christ-centered curriculum, as well as increased the emphasis on evangelism and discipleship among the students. In 2023, a church was started at the school.
A number of members of Parkview Church have become sponsors for individual students at Hope International Christian Academy and serve on various committees. Some of our members have also participated in short-term medical and educational mission trips to Liberia led by Martin and Stephanie.
