Parkview's Faith

The “Bad News”
We are separated from God by our sin (Romans 3:23). The inclination of every human heart is to rebel against God. This rebellion is evident in the violation of God’s moral will (Romans 3:10). There is nothing we can offer up to God from ourselves or our own efforts that can bring us back into a right and restored relationship with God.

The “Gospel”
The Gospel is the message of God’s plan revealed in the Bible. It is God’s plan to bring us back into a right relationship with Himself through the work of His Son, Jesus Christ. Since God created all people, we are all ultimately accountable to Him for our sin. The good news of the Gospel is that Jesus willingly give His life for us. In His crucifixion, Jesus paid the penalty for our sins so that we might be reconciled to God (Matthew 20:28; Colossians 1:21 – 22). When we place our personal trust in Jesus Christ and His payment of our sins’ debt before God, we are saved from God’s wrath and reconciled to God (Romans 8:1; II Corinthians 5:19 – 20). We are given new life in Christ (Romans 6:11).

The “Decision”
In order for a person to receive salvation, they must repent of their sin and believe the Gospel message (Acts 2:37 0 38; Romans 10:9 – 10). Repentance is a turning toward God and a turning away from sin through God’s gracious power (Acts 3:19; 20:20 – 21).

This decision of trusting faith means a person embraces the fact that they indeed have sinned against the God of Heaven. It is an act of trusting reliance in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as sufficient payment for one’s sins and a reception of His moral perfection necessary to make us right with God (II Corinthians 5:21). It is only through Jesus that we can be made right with God.

In John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Have you made such a conscious decision in your life? If you are seeking God and His salvation offered through the Gospel, the following is a prayer to assist you in sharing your response to His Gospel:

“God, I have sinned against You and deserve the consequence of my sin. I need the forgiveness you offer through Your son, Jesus Christ. Jesus I believe You died on the cross to bear the penalty for my sins and that you rose from the dead to make me right with God. I accept what you have done for me to bring me into a right relationship with God. Thank you for forgiving me and coming to live your life in me right now. Amen”
