Pastor Matt began vocational ministry in 2010 as a summer staff member at Beartooth Christian Camp (BCC) in Montana. Throughout the subsequent years, he began theological education at Arrowhead Bible College, engaged in various missions opportunities in the Middle East, and then, in 2014, began full-time vocational ministry as the Program Director at BCC. In 2017, he accepted a role as the Director of Operations for Vision Beyond Borders (VBB), a global missions organization focused on supporting the persecuted Church. During his time with VBB, Matt had the privilege of overseeing ministry operations at the home office in Casper, WY, while also partnering with mission partners on the field SE Asia and the Middle East. However, shortly after moving to Casper, his heart was drawn to his local church, Cornerstone EFC, where he began serving on staff in 2018. Since then, Matt has continued his theological education in Moody Bible Institute’s distance program and has served as a pastor in the roles of worship and missions, shepherding, and most recently as an Executive Pastor and Interim Sr. Pastor. Pastor Matt has a passion for serving the local church by engaging the ā€œunengaged,ā€ teaching God’s Word expositionally, and pursuing organizational excellence for the glory of God.
Matt, his wife Laura, and daughter Adeline (2023) all love their home in the Black Hills. Laura, originally from Northern Ireland, works from home as a Product Manager for the same company she has been with since 2017 and loves playing guitar and drums and spending time with family. Adeline loves to read her many books, listen to music, and play in the yard with our aging Golden Retriever. Matt, a farm kid from Iowa, can’t help working on things in his ā€œfree time,ā€ including a restoration project of a 1973 F-250 Highboy and various home improvement projects. A passion of the Wynthein home is good food and better fellowship, and they have agreed that whether it is rain, snow, sleet, or shine, the Big Green Egg smoker is always ready to prepare a good piece of meat for dinner.
